FAQ

Here are some answers to questions I receive on a regular basis. Just click on each one to reveal the answer below.

Where are you located & Where do you travel to?

I am located in Ballston Spa, New York. I regularly photograph people and weddings throughout New York, New England and Worldwide. I love to travel so I am also available for destination shoots. Travel is billed for very simply- you are responsible for any required airfare, hotel, and rental car charges but will never be billed a travel fee.

What is your style of photography?

I photograph events in an unobtrusive journalistic style but I do believe that there is a time and place for gorgeous, casually posed images of the bride and groom together. I also believe strongly in preserving all of  your wedding details from your shoes to your cake. I will never stop entire tables at your reception and make them pose for “table shots”. Instead, I capture them laughing, smiling, dancing, drinking, and having a great time being and enjoying themselves. Prior to your wedding we will discuss and go over your personal style along with any must-capture shots. This is also the perfect time to talk about if and when you will want any formal or “traditional” photographs of you and your family taken. With a little planning ahead of time it’s as simple as saying “I Do.”.

Can you hold my date?'

I’m sorry, but I cannot hold your date or pencil you in. To be fair to everyone I can’t “hold” a date without a retainer and a signed contract. I accept bookings on a first come, first serve basis.

What is your payment schedule and do you have insurance?

In order to reserve your date, a deposit of $750 is due with your signed contract. *This deposit is non-refundable as it guarantees your date exclusively and I turn down all other commissions for that date. The remaining balance is due one month prior to your wedding.

Yes, I do carry insurance. Please let me know a few months in advance if your venue requires a certificate as it takes time for my carrier to provide that information.

What is your background in photography?

My love affair with photography began long before the digital craze. My father’s Minolta was slung around his neck for every vacation, birthday and holiday celebration. And when dad wasn’t looking it was in my little curious hands. Photography became a passion for me- a way to explore life and preserve special moments as they unfolded around me. I have spent countless wonderful hours in community darkrooms, and later honing my skills at Rockport College and the The Maine Photographic Workshops as well as The New York Institute of Photography.

dad and me Dad and I.

Can I give you a list of photographs I want you to take?

Some bridal magazines provide “shot-lists” to help guide your family photograph selections. I will generally capture these images without prompting so a formal list is unnecessary and may be counterproductive. Please do let me know if there are any events planned that hold special significance or any unusual details that you would like captured; pets, choreographed dances, word art etc.

Do I need to feed you & your assistant?

Yes, please.☺ Many caterers offer “vendor meals” so you don’t have to provide the same meal that you and your guests are having. Feeding your photographers ensures that we remain conscious and mobile and don’t need to leave your reception to grab a bite to eat. Please arrange for the meal to be served when you are served, not afterwards. When you are eating you are not at your most photogenic. And when you’re done, we want to be done as well to continue your coverage.

If I want more photography than I originally contracted, will you stay longer?

I only photograph one event per day, so I am available for overtime. I will not disappear at the expiration of your contracted time. I will consult with you prior to departing and with your permission and approval continue to document your day as you wish. Overtime hours will be billed for post-honeymoon.

How long will it take to receive my photographs & do I get to keep the raw unedited files?

All images will be ready for delivery within 12 weeks, sometimes sooner. Albums and books may take a little longer as they require consultation and design before heading to press. I know it can feel like an eternity but it is worth the wait. If your package includes a wedding website those images will typically be available for viewing prior to your archives and printed items.

Unedited raw-files are not available for viewing or purchase. Only your best images are selected for editing and final delivery. Everything else is discarded and not archived. Rest assured that you are not “losing images”. If several photographs were taken of you with your BFF of 20 years, you will receive every image in which the two of you do not appear blinking, with clothing mishaps, or mid-bite of food etc.

Do you offer Boudoir and Art Nude photography?

Absolutely. And don’t be shy about asking! As a matter of privacy for my clients I do not post portfolios of these images. So you can rest assured your photographs won’t appear here either! Rates begin at $500 per session in the Saratoga Region and include makeup (if desired). And if you are self confident and would love to be featured as part of a portfolio you get 25% off! Call or email me and let’s chat about your session.
